Awake Community Coalition is a non-profit organization and Drug Free Communities grantee founded in the fall of 2008. Our membership is comprised of dedicated individuals who collectively represent all facets of our community. Included in our membership are law enforcement, youth agencies, civic volunteers, faith groups, township governments, educators, youth and business owners focusing on alcohol and drug prevention. Our focus is to help our youth make safe and healthy choices through a strong collaboration with the local schools, as well as educating parents, students and community members.
Collaborations with youth serving agencies, other community coalitions, the schools and law enforcement has enabled us to implement environmental prevention strategies. These strategies include, evidence-based programming such as Med Return boxes in our community, and ID scanners for use by community organizations serving alcohol. Among our many accomplishments has been the community collaborations we have built to provide information, enhance skills, create opportunities and support programming for our youth to participate in activities which reduce risk.
